My pictures

Someone asked me so here ’tis.

What I do to my pictures before uploading ’em

(This has been reduced from its original 10Mb+ to under 1 Mb for obvious reasons)

Cropping

Cropped to: a) remove boring stuff; b) position the object of interest, in this case the bee/flower interface, at about one third of the way into the picture – without chopping off ‘in focus’ leaves.

Levels allows the picture to occupy the full “spectrum” from dark to light, bringing out hidden details. Adjusting the centre slider(gamma?!) can help.

Always careful with this as it can lead to a cartoony feeling.

The image is then "scaled" to bring it down to reasonable size for uploading. i tend to aim for under 1Mb.
